The purpose of the Advisory Panel is to help facilitate effective best practices and further documentation of this global collaborative project. The aim is to monitor the use of appropriate tools and resources, including the latest technology, to allow the scaling of such projects for the wider educational community.

Jo McLeay is currently Faculty Head of English at Mater Christi College in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She has been teaching since 1978 and is proud of the fact that she is a life-long learner. She has been using blogs and wikis with classes for two years and has held a number of formal and informal workshops for teachers wishing to use Web 2.0 tools in their classrooms. Currently writing her thesis on the teaching of literature to adolescents Jo hopes to get her life back at the end of 2008 when the thesis is due for completion. Jo's professional blog is called

John Turner has been Head of Information Technology at Presbyterian Ladies' College, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia since 1990. In addition to teaching IT related subjects across Years 7 through 12, he also works with subject teachers across the curriculum in implementing effective, sustainable and valued uses of technologies for learning. This has included the use of online blogs for subject project use. As the IT subjects are all electives, and as such depend on student choosing such courses, courses have to be continually updated not only to support students using the latest technologies [which they can do from home anyway] but also in a way considered to be of value for their education and learning.
Darren Kuropatwa is currently Department Head of Mathematics at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He is known internationally for his ability to weave the use of online social tools meaningfully and concretely into his pedagogical practice and for "child safe" blogging practices. He has more than 20 years experience in both formal and informal education and 13 years experience in team building and leadership training. Darren has been facilitating workshops for educators in groups of 4 to 300 for the last 10 years.

Terry Freedman has over thirty years’ experience in education. Specialising in information and communication technology (ICT), he has taught in inner city schools, been Head of Department, worked at the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (a UK governmental organisation) and held a 3rd tier officer post – Head of E-Education – in a London Local Education Authority. He was also an Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) inspector for ICT and Business Education, has worked with the private sector on devising ICT courses and bidding for funds, and is an established writer in the field of ICT in education with several books and around 1500 articles published. He is currently Chair of Naace, the subject association for ICT, and an independent ICT consultant.

Paul Fairbrother is Head of Online Learning based at the
curriculum and assessment office in Cardiff (Wales). Paul is heavily involved in the Diploma Programme Online project, which aims to develop an online version of the IB
that can both support delivery in existing IB World Schools but also reach out to completely new communities of students that cannot physically attend an IB World School. In addition to broadening access, the opportunity for students from different parts of the world to study together in an online community will serve to promote intercultural understanding and respect, a key element of the IB’s mission statement. Paul has worked for the IB for the past 10 years. Before taking up this new role, Paul had responsibility for the Diploma Programme maths and science courses.
Alan Levine is Director of Member and Technology Resources for the
